Change Logon Background Windows 7 – RC1
Good news everyone! In windows 7 you can customise the windows login screen with your own wallpaper. Designed for OEMs so they can annoy you with their logos at each and every login. Click to more link to discover how to change your background. Discovered By Rafael.
First Step
- Go to the following registry key
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Authentication\LogonUI\Background
- Change the key “OEMBackground” to “1″ or Create a new key
Second Step
- Navigate to the following filepath (You may need to create this folder)
%windir%\system32\oobe\info\backgrounds
- Copy your background picture to the folder and rename. The following file names are available
backgroundDefault.jpg
background768×1280.jpg
background900×1440.jpg
background960×1280.jpg
background1024×1280.jpg
background1280×1024.jpg
background1024×768.jpg
background1280×960.jpg
background1600×1200.jpg
background1440×900.jpg
background1920×1200.jpg
background1280×768.jpg
background1360×768.jpg
- The file size is restricted to 256KB, If the correct resolution file is not found the default picture is used.
