Try updating the firmware and reset it to factory settings.
Still doesn’t work… I did that and still get the same error message but now it starts to say ”There might be a problem with your internet connection. Make sure your computer is connected to the interenet.” And it is. Oh, and the Proxy server thing is unticked.. Help, please? Help would be greatly appreciated. I really need to contact someone. Oh, and can you publish the answer if you do so happen to reply? Like rochelle’s problem, I can’t also get access to my E-mail, sadly… ~Reno.
If it is your email as well and you can use internet explorer then it is probably a firewall issue
or maybe a virus problem.
Thank you for the article, I had the “80072efd” error in win. live messenger 2011, I unchecked the “use automatic configuration script” in my “Internet Explorer 9 beta” browser settings and my problem was solved, messenger connect again.
I’m not sure, but my problem might be caused by a proxy switcher application.
your solutions were reallllly helpful for all of the problems I had with msgr yet I am currently facing error code 80072ef3
is there any available way to get out of it
??? thank you
This error seems to relate to a proxy error.
Are you on a college or corporate network?
Try this:
1. Click Start, Control Panel, Internet options.
2. Switch to the Zones tab.
3. Mark the entry Trusted sites, and click the Sites… button.
4. Add the following entry to the list of trusted sites:
https://*.contacts.msn.com
5. Click OK, and switch to the Connections tab.
6. Click the LAN settings button. If the Advanced button is active, click it and add *.contacts.msn.com to the Exceptions list.
7. Click OK to close the dialogs.
8. Retry to sign in to Messenger.
It didn’t work, I tried everything that promised to help to solve this error, but unfortunately everything failed. Actually, I can’t even open any sites that are related with the messenger.
Can you please help me? I have no idea what to do.
By the way, I am using Vista.
