When you try to sign in to the Windows Live Messenger Service you may get the following error message.

"Sorry, we were unable to sign you in to the .NET Messenger Service at this time. Please try again later. 80072efd"

Solution

  • Click Start > Then Run and type in the following:
regsvr32 Dssenh.dll Gpkcsp.dll Slbcsp.dll Sccbase.dll

Alternatively

Remove any proxy settings in Internet Explorer:

  • Open Internet Explorer, click the Tools menu and then Internet Options
Internet Options
  • Select the Connections tab.
  • Click LAN Settings
Lan Settings IE
  • Untick the Use a proxy server for your LAN checkbox.
  • You should also have “Automatically detect settings” selected
Proxy Server IE
  • Click OK and exit Internet Explorer

Still doesn’t work… I did that and still get the same error message but now it starts to say ”There might be a problem with your internet connection. Make sure your computer is connected to the interenet.” And it is. Oh, and the Proxy server thing is unticked.. Help, please? Help would be greatly appreciated. I really need to contact someone. Oh, and can you publish the answer if you do so happen to reply? Like rochelle’s problem, I can’t also get access to my E-mail, sadly… ~Reno.

If it is your email as well and you can use internet explorer then it is probably a firewall issue
      or maybe a virus problem.
