Fix High CPU Usage Audiodg.exe in Windows 7 and Vista
audiodg.exe hosts the audio processing in Windows 7 and Vista. All the audio processing is done through this process. The problem is that other audio effects can be put into this process by third party vendors. This can cause problems.
Disable Audio Effects (Audiodg.exe)
- Right Click on the speak in the tray
- Click on Playback Devices
- Double Click on the Playback Device with a Green Tick
- Change to the Enhancements tab
- Click the Disable all Enhancements checkbox
- Click ok twice and start your media

Disable all enhancements for the recording devices too.
For those who get agitated every time someone brings up this elusive “Enhancement” tab that doesn’t seem to exist to us Creative Labs SB users (X-fi Audigy SE etc) and some C-media sound cards, the “Disabled all enhancements” tick box can be found under the “Sound Blaster” tab. ([ ] Disable Sound Blaster enhancements)
Some C-media soundcards don’t allow to use enhancements (or disable that pesky auto volume setting that is set active by default) because the tab simply doesn’t exist. The only reasonable solution to this is to get a decent sound card or stick with onboard solutions.
Creative moved it?
