Are you using XP?
Check the registry path carefully
Hi Ben yes I’m using xp pro sp2.Yes I checked registry path and found it,and the value is already set to 0,so I ran SFC /SCANNOW from command prompt, (it won’t run from the run box in start menu it asks for the program I want to open it with and I cant find an appropriate one for opening SFC file types) and it still gives me Windows file protection could not initiate a scan of protecred system files.
The specific error code is 0×000006ba [The RPC server is unavailable. many thanks in anticipation of a solution
You may be infected with a virus blocking you from using SFC
Try downloading and scanning with malwarebytes
Hi ben, ran malwarebytes it removed and deleted 2 backdoor trojans (Backdoor.IRCbot) no folders infected and still cannot run SFC,could I mention that the problem started after I installed firefox browser cuold this be causing some sort of conflict, also all the programs in set program access and defaults are grayed out so I cant change defaults. once again many thanks for your help
Worked! Thanks!
