This can be caused by faulty media, a bad burn or incorrect settings for your hard drive in the bios. Read on to fix these issues
Solution
AHCI
AHCI is a setting for your SATA Hard Drive, Look in the BIOS and check if this setting is correct
Also check DMA is enabled if you have an IDE drive
Media
This can be a problem with the installation media being corrupted or poor.
- Burn or get a new copy of the disk (Burn at a slow Speed 2x and use a quality media like (Verbatim)
- Or if you have a current Windows installation you can install from the hard drive or from a usb drive
If all else fails you can install Windows 7 directly from Windows Vista. Just copy your installation files to the hard drive i.e. c:\install and run setup.exe
