How to Delete the Windows.old Folder after a Windows 7 Upgrade
If you upgrade to Windows 7 from an unsupported version of Windows all your files will be moved into a Windows.old file. Some of these files have permissions and file access that can stop you from deleting the folder when you are done with it. This article will show you how to delete the folder using inbuilt Windows tools.
Instructions
- Open the start menu. Type in DISK and open Disk Cleanup
- Choose the drive with the Windows.old folder on.
- Then click Clean up System Files at the bottom of the screen

This will remove your windows.old folder.
If you are having trouble, something may be using that folder,
Try booting up in safemode and then deleting the folder

Definitely not cut and paste since the original Windows Help file is better worded and goes into more detail but without the pretty pictures or the advertising blurbs and whatever by blockers are having conniptions with.
