How to Edit the “hosts” file in Windows 7 & Windows Vista
The hosts file in Windows 7 and Vista is locked by default to prevent viruses or and malware from using it to redirect you to malicious websites. Click the read link to find out more.
Instructions
- Open the start menu, In the search bar enter “notepad”,
rightclick on the notepad icon and select Run as administrator
- Now go to file and open and go to the following location to open the HOSTS files
C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\
You will now be able to edit the file
