How To Fix Error 0x8000FFFF When Installing Windows Live Messenger

Do you get Error Code 0x8000FFFF while logging into Windows Live Messenger. Unfortunatly this is not a problem at Microsofts end and will require a few tools and uninstalling Windows Messenger. Read on to learn how to fix Error Code 8000FFFF

Instructions

  • Click Start then Run type in sfc /scannow.
    You may need to insert your Windows install disk, then restart the computer
sfc
  • Uninstall Windows Messenger with ZapMessenger (This will remove Windows Messenger and clean up any leftover files or registry keys)
zap
  • Download and install Windows Installer Cleanup Utility Here
  • Run the utility, select all items relating Windows Live and remove them
wicl
  • Reboot!
  • Reinstall Windows Live Messenger and any other Live programs

    hi, i have the error 8000ffff on my sign into wlm. i have tried to follow your steps, however the the windows cleanup utility doesnt work! It keeps saying that it has encountered an illegal instruction. I tried to reinstall msn without doing the last step however same problem. Do you know where i can get the utlity again that works?
