How to Fix Error Code 8004888D When Signing into MSN Messenger
This error code means that MSN Messenger cannot connect to the service. This may actually be the case, please check the status page. If this is not the case I will show you how to reregister the files which cause this problem.
Instructions
Delete Identitycrl
- Open the start menu type in
"%appdata%\Microsoft\Identitycrl\"
- This will open a folder. Delete the files in this folder
Register DLL files
- Open the start menu and type in cmd. Open the cmd program
- copy and paste the following code to re-register the required DLL files
regsvr32 Cryptdlg.dll /s
regsvr32 Dssenh.dll /s
regsvr32 Gpkcsp.dll /s
regsvr32 Initpki.dll /s
regsvr32 Rsaenh.dll /s
regsvr32 Mssip32.dll /s
regsvr32 Msxml3.dll /s
regsvr32 Slbcsp.dll /s
regsvr32 Sccbase.dll /s
regsvr32 Softpub.dll /s
regsvr32 Wintrust.dll /s
Last Resort
