How to Fix Error Code 8007005 When Using Windows Update

Error Code 8007005 is a problem relating to file permissions in Windows. This can be solved by downloading the Windows Update files manually and reinstalling. But try this solution first.

Register Files

  • Open the start menu and click all programs

  • Open Accessories and right click on command prompt choose Run as Administrator

  • Run the following command
secedit /configure /cfg %windir%\inf\defltbase.inf /db defltbase.sdb /verbose
  • Reboot your computer and try again

    I tried the whole commander thing. and then i restarted my laptop and then nothing changed. so i am doing this secedit thing again. and it wont do anything. what to do now? THANKSS!

    I type it all in, and then it goes to thirty percent, stops, then says that the task has completed with an error. See log watchamacallit for details. Help?
