How to fix Error Code 80072ee7 Logging into Windows Live Messenger
When trying to login to Windows Messenger you may get the following error code 80072ee7
This can be caused by incorrect proxy settings, Firewall settings, Time and Date Settings or a bad messenger installation
Solution
- First check that your date and time settings are correct. (This can be found by right clicking the clock in the very right hand corner of your screen)
- Next open Internet Explorer go to Tools and then Internet Options. Open the Connections tab and select LAN Settings. Untick Use a Proxy Server and Tick Automatically Detect Settings. Click OK untill you get back to IE.
- Reregister softpub.dll by opening the start menu and in Vista/7 type in the search field and in XP click on run then type in regsvr32 softpub.dll you will get a succeeded message
- Next try disabling any software firewall you may have running
- If it still doesn’t work try rebooting your router or modem
If all else fails try my reinstall Windows Messenger Guide. To fully remove and reinstall messenger here
