How To Fix: Spooler Error Printing from Vista/7 to XP
A common problem when sharing a printer from Windows XP to Vista or Windows 7. Is that the driver for Windows XP isn’t compatible with Vista and 7. This can cause problems and error messages when printing.
Background
- A common error message that is related to this problem is:
Faulting application spoolsv.exe, version 6.0.6001.18000, time stamp 0x4791956c, faulting module hpz3r5mu.dll, version 61.73.241.0, time stamp 0x4719fa93, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x000a0490, process id 0x2484, application start time 0x01c93970df9d3183.
- The problem is that the spoolsv.exe has crashed and will stop all printing. The problem that can be seen is the dll file relating to the driver of the printer.
Solution
- On the Windows XP computer open the start menu and then click the Printers and Faxes Icon
- Right Click on the printer that you are sharing and select properties
- Change to the Advanced tab and Uncheck “Enable Advanced printing features”
- If that doesn’t work try selecting Print Directly to the Printer

Hi not sure this helps me, I have no XP computer!, just this useless Windows 7 that seems to have a problem with anything!!. I can’t load my printer driver because there is a problem with the print spooler.
Cheers anyway

easy and working.
thanks.

This is all well and good, except you can’t double side, print multiple copies and do a host of other things that you need the printer to do, depending on the model.

Great, thanks for this solution. Surely MS could fix the problem? Anyway thanks again
