How to Fix Windows Messenger Error Code 80004005
Windows Messenger Error Code 80004005. This error indicates that part of your cache may be corrupted.
Instructions
- Close Messenger
- Open the start menu and in the search box (or Run in XP) type in
"%userprofile%\contacts"
- A folder will open, if the folder is empty, click the Tools menu, then Options, then View tab, click Show hidden files or folders and click OK
- Once you can see the contained folders right-click the one that corresponds to your Passport (login) and delete it
- Next, click Start, then type
"%userprofile%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows Live Contacts"
- Delete any folders in this folder
- Load Messenger and start again
