How to Format a USB Stick With NTFS in XP in 1 Minute!
In Windows XP you cannot format a removable USB Stick with NTFS. This is really annoying as it is the basis to install Vista/7 off of USB among other things. Luckly there is a quick tweak to enable the NTFS option.
Instructions
- Plug in your USB stick (Try this Sandisk USB Flash Drive)
- Open the Start Menu and then click Run Type in
devmgmt.msc
- Find your USB Stick in Device Manager, Right Click and Select Properties
- Change to the Policys tab and change to “Better Performance”
You will now be able to format the drive in NTFS. Don’t forget to change back before removal or you may lose data.
