How to Reinstall Microsoft XPS Docment Writer Printer in XP
The XPS Document Writer allows you to create .xps files using any program that you run on Windows. XPS documents look the same in print as they do on the screen. This guide will show you how to reinstall the XPS printer.
Instructions
- Add a new printer, Create a local printer and untick the “auto detect” box
- ChooseXPSPort: (Local Port)
- Next choose Microsoft then XPS as the driver.
- If there is not a Microsoft driver section then add the printer as a Generic/Text only driver
- Then open the printer properties. Go to the advanced tab and change the driver

Installing Windows 7 From a USB Stick From Windows XP (Bootable USB)
Ben,
I installed MS Office 2010 to try to get the driver. MS Word allows me to save as a XPS document and to view it in the XPS viewer. However, the XPS printer is not listed in printers and faxes and when I go to add it, Microsoft is still not listed under manufacturers. I tried the Generic driver and Properties, but Microsoft is still not listed there either. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
