How to Stop Windows 7 Auto-Rebooting After an Update
Windows 7 by default automatically install updates. Then it asks you when you want to reboot. This can be very annoying if you use standby or hibernate as the time will lapse as your computer is shutdown. When returning to your computer it can reboot before you login. This guide explains how to stop this behaviour.
- Open the Start Menu and type gpedit.msc
- In gpedit and navigate to:
Local Computer Policy > Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Update
- Open No auto-restart with logged on users for scheduled automated updates installation
- Change to Enabled and click OK
