Here’s a more secure method.

Open up internet Explorer
Tools -> Internet options
Click on Security tab
Click Trusted sites > “Sites” Button
Type in your share drive Letter: Ex) Z:\ -> “Add” Button
(Make sure “Require server verification is not checked)
Close button
Click on “Custom Level” button
Under “Launching applications and unsafe files” click enable (Under Miscellaneous (Press m… it’s a shortcut))

That way you still have your barrier for sites with ad aware popups.

Don’t listen to Rabid Zombie; His suggestion doesn’t work for Win 7; Besides you posted the warning and if anyone is too stupid not to backup registry before making this type of change…well remove them from the gene pool.

Yes, this worked, but you went too far with asking people to edit the registry in the end. All I had to do was click the message to open the security notification center, then click ‘don’t show these warnings’ and the problem was solved more easily, while still leaving the notification thing active if it needed to actually tell me something important.

Thanks, been trying to get rid of these popup messages on a 2003 server for a few days now. DisableSecuritySettingsCheck worked perfectly!

Your fix worked for me, but the registry hack resulted in the icons on the task bar going blank. I deleted the edit to the registry and all is right with the world. (I don’t use IE8, and I don’t see the security error (error message (about:SecurityRisk).
