Stop “Windows has blocked this software because it cannot verify the publisher” Error Message
Do you get the error “Windows has blocked this software because it cannot verify the publisher” when you try to access a website which tries to install addons or run installation executables?
Internet Explorer by default blocks installing programs or addons that run in Internet Explorer. This is to stop malicious software from installing too your computer without your say-so. If you know the addon is safe this can a hiderance.
Instructions
- Open internet explorer, click Tools – Internet Options.
- Click the Security tab – Custom Level button.
- Under ActiveX ensure the following are set to enabled
1) Run ActiveX and plugins
2) Download Signed ActiveX Control
3) Script ActiveX controls marked as safe for scripting
- Set the following to “Prompt”
1) Download unsigned ActiveX Control
2) Initialize and script ActiveX controls not mark as safe
- Click Ok and Apply to save the settings, then restart Internet Explorer
